FT - Field of Flowers Shawl

A field of flowers is bordered by waves of old shale on this shetland style square lace shawl or throw. Designed for dk, fingering and lace weight yarns, use all one or multiple colors.

Yarn & Needles & Blocked size:

For fingering or lace weight shawl: 1200 yards if worked on size 5 needles; 1500 yards if worked on size 6 needles. Size 5 or 6 needles 24" or longer circular needles. DPNs in the same size and a size F crochet hook. Approx. size is 47" square worked on size 5 needles and 57" square worked on size 6 needles.

DK Weight: 525 yards each if using multiple colors of 3-4 colors each. Size 9 (5mm) 29" or longer circular needles. DPNs in same size and a size I crochet hook.

Other supplies: A spare 29" circular needle at least 2 sizes smaller, 4 st markers, waste yarn, tapestry needles, rustproof pins; blocking wires (optional).

Unblocked Gauge:

DK Weight: 14 sts = 4" (10cm) in garter stitch on size 9 needles. Fingering or laceweight: 20 sts = 4" (10cm) on size 5 needles or 18 sts = 4" on size 6 needles in garter stitch.
